Give to Abused Children
so they may have a Life of Justice and Healing

Every year wonderful volunteers from local businesses come to The Children's Advocacy Center of North and Northwest Cook County to assist with yard clean-up, building maintenance, child care, and fundraising events. After receiving a tour of the Center and hearing what we do, they respond with, "How do you do this every day? Doesn't it depress you to hear how young children are sexually abused by someone the child knows?" We tell them that through our group and individual therapy, we are able to help the children express their feelings of distrust, fear, self doubt, sadness and helplessness due to the trauma they have experienced. They gain confidence, power, and understand that the abuse was not their fault. They heal from the abuse and lead a healthy, productive life. The investigative process that we provide with our multi-disciplinary team brings justice to the child and to our community by prosecuting the perpetrator and making it a safer place to live.

Most of us have been blessed to live in a loving and caring home without the trauma of violence and abuse. As Nobel Prize winner Rabindranath Tagore said, "Life is given to us, WE EARN IT BY GIVING IT."
