Meghan Kurfirst chairs 5K walk for second year!

The Children’s Advocacy Center of North and Northwest Cook County (CAC) is proud to host the 10th Annual Champions for Children 5K Walk! The family friendly event will take place on June 25th at the Children’s Advocacy Center in Hoffman Estates.

Meghan Kurfirst, a member of the CAC Board of Directors, is chairing the event for a second time. Meghan commented on why she enjoys the 5K Walk, “I enjoy chairing the 5K Walk because it is the only core fundraising event that takes place at CAC. All ages are welcome and this event is also open to all family members including dogs!”

“Families should attend the 5K Walk to take a tour of the facility, meet other supporters of CAC and have fun while fundraising for a greatly needed non-profit in our area,” said Kurfirst. This family friendly event includes a 5k walk, live DJ, kid friendly activities, and free food. “There are many other activities for children of all ages; such as the moon bounce, face painters, popcorn machine and DJ! There are also local vendors that are supporters of CAC that will be in attendance. Walkers will also be able to view the new Healing Garden, provided by the Rotary Club of Schaumburg/ Hoffman Estates,” Kurfirst added.

All proceeds from the event support CAC services and clients. CAC serves as the leading resource to empower and heal the abused child and prevent violence against children. Kurfirst is eager to raise as much as possible at the event, “The money that is raised goes towards services for children and their families that have been through abusive experiences. Helping children and their families heal after trauma is the paramount priority of CAC.”

When asked why she supports CAC Kurfirst commented, “I support CAC because they are a crucial non-profit in the community that provides services for children and families that have been involved in traumatic, abusive situations. The care and compassion of the staff is overwhelming. In supporting CAC, I know that children and their families will heal during the most difficult times in their lives.”
