With gratitude, the Children's Advocacy Center of North and Northwest Cook County is announced today that Mr. Bill Barry donated $25,000 to the Safe From the Start Campaign.
“We are grateful for Mr. Barry’s generosity, which speaks to his commitment to ending childhood trauma,” said Safe From the Start Director, Carrie Estrada. “His gift will ensure these critical services stay in our community and help those in need.” CAC and the families served by Safe From the Start cannot thank Mr. Barry enough for his generosity.
Safe From the Start is the only local program designed to specifically address the impact of exposure to violence on very young children and their families. Children ages birth through five and their families receive individual and family therapy, crisis intervention and other services to recover from exposure to violence. All Safe From the Start services are offered at no cost to the children and families.
Due to the fiscal year 2016 Illinois budget impasse, Safe From the Start lost 39% of its funding. CAC has been able to maintain the program throughout this time by using reserve funding and launched the campaign to preserve the program through fiscal year 2018. CAC is actively looking for new funding sources to support the program into the future and seeks community support through donations. CAC extends a warm thank you to all who have already supported the campaign!
