Words from Matthew Sandusky

Words from Matthew Sandusky

Just over two weeks ago, CAC hosted the Hope, Heal, Grow Gala at Medinah Country Club. With the generosity of many sponsors and guests, $155,000 was raised to support CAC’s healing services. Each year, CAC serves more than 800 children and families who have been impacted by sexual abuse, physical abuse, and trauma.

Once of the most moving moments of the night was when Matthew Sandusky spoke about his personal experience with child sex abuse. In just twenty minutes he educated, engaged and energized our supporters to stand up against child abuse, make a difference by supporting the Children’s Advocacy Center of North and Northwest Cook County and leave the gala aware and empowered. It is hard not to be moved by Matthew’s personal story – he received a standing ovation at the end of his presentation.

When asked about the gala, Matthew responded,

“I was honored to kick of Child Abuse Prevention Month by speaking at the Hope, Heal, Grow Gala. It was remarkable to see so many community members come together to support The Children’s Advocacy Center of North and Northwest Cook County (CAC). Over $155,000 was raised at the gala!

CAC provides critical healing services to children who have been sexually abused, and they do it at no cost to the families they serve. My hope is that more individuals will want to learn about CAC and get involved at some level to further their mission. The work of CAC is important and impactful in each of the 38 communities they serve.

I would like to thank all who joined me at the Hope, Heal, Grow Gala and everyone who was not in attendance, but supported in some way. You made a difference in the life of a child. Thank you.”

Thank you Matthew and thank you to all sponsors and supporters of the 2017 Hope, Heal, Grow Gala!
